Montemarcello

A few km away from Bocca di Magra you can easily reach the village of Montemarcello, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It’s a small hamlet located on the promontory of Montemarcello Magra Park in the eastern part of the Gulf of Poets. What is most striking about this village: the beauty of its alleys between the small colored houses and the majestic position that dominates the surrounding landscape, from the sea of the Gulf of Poets to the Apuan Alps. From Montemarcello it’s possible to reach the Punta Corvo beach through a stepped path overlooking the sea.

Cinque terre

From Bocca di Magra you can organize a trip out of town to the Cinque Terre. In about an hour's drive you’ll reach the first village of the Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore. It’s also possible to reach the Cinque Terre by ferry boat from Lerici to better appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are the villages visited by tourists from all over the world. They are 5 ancient villages boasting beautiful colorful houses overlooking the sea with unique characteristics in the world. The Cinque Terre, thanks to their uniqueness, were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.

Portovenere

Portovenere, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997, is a beautiful village located in the most western part of the Gulf of Poets characterized by a seafront building made up of dozens of pretty colorful houses overlooking the Palmaria Island. The historic center of Portovenere, which can be reached through its main door, deserves an in depth visit: from its “carugio”, full of characteristic shops selling souvenirs and typical products, you may go up to the Church of San Lorenzo and reach the Doria Castle too with its cemetery overlooking the sea. Do not miss a visit to the famous Church of San Pietro, located on a rocky outcrop, from whose terrace you’ll admire the infinity of the sea and the Cinque Terre coastline.

Colonnata

A small village nestled in the rock of the beautiful Apuan Alps, Colonnata is known all over the world for the presence of the Marble Quarries and for the production of the delicious lard that is left to mature in tanks of the white Carrara marble. True musts are the pretty Church and, on the opposite square, the “cavatore” monument.

Castelnuovo Magra

A charming village, known worldwide for the Dante's Peace, Castelnuovo is located in a panoramic position overlooking the Magra Valley with the majestic Apuan Alps behind it. Do not miss a guided tour of its historic center where you will admire the Oratorio dei Bianchi, the square in front of the Piana di Luni with the Parish of Santa Maria Maddalena, the elegant palaces and the headquarters of the Regional Enoteca of Liguria.

Nicola

Nicola is a tiny village in the Magra Valley, located on a hill near Ortonovo, about 10 km away from the Bocca di Magra locality. This village deserves a dedicated visit in order to admire the remains of its Castle and Tower, the latter contains a Florentine coat of arms as a testimony to the Medici family, and the Parish Church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo.
